Snapchat buries privacy controls three menus deep. I mapped every toggle that actually matters, organized by menu path so you can fix settings in under ten minutes.
Contact Me
Settings → Contact Me
Set to Friends Only to stop random snaps and messages from strangers.
View My Story
Settings → View My Story
Choose Friends Only or a custom list. Public profiles work differently. They are built for discovery.
Ghost Mode
Settings → See My Location → Ghost Mode
Hides your live location from Snap Map entirely.
Quick Add
Settings → See Me in Quick Add
Turn off to reduce appearing in stranger suggestions.
Login Verification
Settings → Login Verification
Enable SMS or authenticator two-factor protection.
Ad Preferences
Settings → Additional Services → Ads
Limit activity-based and audience-based ad targeting.
Public profile warning
Once you go public, stories and spotlights are discoverable, including via web tools that read public data. If that makes you uncomfortable, skip the public profile or post only what you are fine with the internet seeing.
Privacy settings stop strangers in the app. They do not stop a friend from screenshotting. Share sensitive content only with people you trust.
